Fleet Week kicks off in the city with its Parade of Ships. Now in its 30th year, Fleet Week is New York’s celebration of the sea services, and its Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen. Tours of ships will take place in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island. The ships will be able to be seen along the Hudson River from Battery Park to just south of the George Washington Bridge. The flagship, USS Arlington (LPD 24), is scheduled to render a salute as the ship passes Fort Hamilton on Long Island. Fort Hamilton will conduct an 11-gun salute in return.
